Let me introduce you to Wendy.
A few days ago, Wendy was in the hospital.
Her leishmaniasis was out of control. Her eyes were inflamed. Her skin was damaged. Her body was exhausted. We had just started treatment, and we still didn’t know how much damage had been done inside.
Today, Wendy arrived at the Great House.
And everything changed.
She walked into the garden as if she already knew this was where she was supposed to be. She met the others. She explored. She followed us around. She accepted food, medication, affection, and every little moment of kindness as if she had been waiting for this all her life.
She is still very sick. Her treatment has only just begun. She needs Glucantime, monitoring, care, food, stability and time.
But today we saw something beautiful.
Wendy is not broken.
She is happy. She is friendly. She wants to belong. She wants to be close. She wants to live.
