Miki Has Left Us

Miki arrived at the hospital in a terrible condition.

He was on oxygen, connected to a monitor, exhausted and unstable. His body was already fighting too many battles at once: anaemia, hypovolaemia, hypoglycaemia, sepsis and heart disease.

The mass on his body was not only ulcerated and aggressive. It had already spread to the axillary lymph nodes. Even sedating him safely for full staging was not possible.

The doctors considered every path: transfusion, plasma, CT scan, surgery. But the truth was devastating. The disease had gone too far. Surgery would not have given Miki a real future. His little body simply had nothing left to fight with.

Sometimes we fight with everything we have.

And sometimes, despite everything, we arrive too late.

Miki has left us.

But he did not leave this world unseen. He was cared for, monitored, treated with tenderness and surrounded by people who desperately wanted there to be a way forward.

His rescue did not end with the miracle we wanted.

But it still mattered.

Because no animal should leave this world abandoned, frightened and forgotten.

Miki was not forgotten.

Please help us continue being there for the animals who still have a chance, and for those who simply need someone to stand beside them when they need it most.
