I said Hope would live to be 15. Today, we’re still caring for him

    Hope update

In a video recorded years ago, I’m standing beside Hope, saying he’s going to live to be 15.

An accident had left him paralysed, and his family abandoned him at a veterinary hospital in Turkey. Özlem rescued him and arranged treatment, but she couldn’t manage his care alone. Our Turkish friends asked us for help, and we brought him to Spain.

Today, Hope is around 15. Watching that old recording and seeing him now, with his white face, playing with a stick or seeking affection from his carers, moves me deeply.

His care needs made finding an adoptive family very difficult. The Great House became his home. Here, he has lived surrounded by people who love him and know his habits.

That’s why we were concerned when he began eating with less enthusiasm. Hope has always loved his food. That small change told us something was wrong.

He now has pressure sores that need daily wound care, and an infection is complicating his recovery. Our veterinary team continues to assess his wounds and review his treatment. At his age, he needs even more attention.

Vet visits, medication, dressings and daily care all come at a cost we need to cover.

Please help us with a donation to care for Hope and the other animals who depend on us. If you can give monthly, you’ll help us provide that care consistently.

If you’ve ever supported our work, thank you. Your help is part of the years Hope has been able to enjoy. Now that he’s grown old, he’s still counting on us.
