Help Daphne
What moves me most about Daphne is how gentle she is when someone comes close to care for her. She needs help with things as simple as standing up or reaching her food. And when you hold her steady, when you stay beside her, you can see how much that contact means to her.
Today, she’s leaving the hospital and coming with us to Casa Grande.
Before we leave, we give her a bath. We have to support her so she doesn’t lose her balance. Afterwards, we wrap her in a towel and carry her in our arms. These are small gestures, but it’s hard not to think about how we found her: lying on the ground, painfully thin, with sores on her skin.
Now we can be there when she tries to stand.
At Casa Grande, the other dogs come over to meet her. Daphne lies on the grass while someone gently strokes her face. Later, she rests her head in one of her carers’ laps. I’d really like you to see that moment.
We still don’t know what is causing her balance problems. There are more tests ahead, and she needs help every day. Today, we’re bringing her home knowing we’ll need to hold her steady many times, help her eat and stay close whenever she tries to walk.
And that’s what we’re going to do.
Please watch today’s video and spend a few minutes with her. If you can help with her tests and daily care, please donate. Your support will help us keep giving her the attention she needs, for as long as she needs it.
Thank you for being by her side.
