Kiko · Let’s Adopt
Donate towards Kiko’s surgeryWe rescued Kiko in August 2025. He had been found on the streets, sick and so frightened that he wouldn’t let anyone near him. Even the police were afraid of this tiny dog.
He had advanced leishmaniasis, and his eyes were badly damaged. He spent weeks in hospital. There were times when we thought he wouldn’t make it.
But he did. And as he started feeling better, we got to know the real Kiko: affectionate, funny, full of character and always wanting to be close to us. In today’s video, you can see a little of the life we’ve built together.
Now Kiko has a serious eye injury and needs surgery.
Maribel noticed that he wasn’t feeling well. When she looked closely, she discovered the injury. We think another dog may have accidentally scratched his eye, but we didn’t see what happened.
We’ve taken him to a veterinary ophthalmologist. The examination confirmed an extensive corneal injury in an eye that already had serious problems. The recommendation is to remove it to avoid prolonging his pain.
It’s hard to hear that he’s going to lose an eye. Of course we’d like to save it. But we have to do what’s best for him. We want him to feel comfortable again, enjoy being stroked and get back to his life with us.
Today, I’m asking for your help to pay for Kiko’s surgery and the veterinary care he’ll need during his recovery.
Many of you have known him since he arrived. You’ve seen how sick he was and how far he’s come. Others have only just met him today. If you can help him with a donation, I would be truly grateful.
You can make your donation using the form on this page.
Thank you for helping us care for Kiko. We’ll keep you posted on how he’s doing.
