Today we have to share devastating news.
Frodo has passed away.
This morning, when we arrived at the hospital, Frodo was barely holding on. He was in a very bad way. Within seconds, his body collapsed and he went into cardiac arrest. The team managed to bring him back, but the reality in front of us was brutal: he was at the edge, with very little chance left, and he could go at any moment.
They told us the truth this morning. It might have been time to say goodbye. They also told us that if we wanted to try to reverse the situation, the chances were very small. And still, we tried. We asked them to keep going. Oxygen, medication, fluids, everything that could still give him a chance. We fought for Frodo until the very last second because giving up before the end was never an option.
It was not enough.
Frodo had been with us for two years. In that time, he stopped being a case and became part of our life. He was one of those dogs who did not need to impose himself to become unforgettable. It was enough to look at him to understand that there was someone special there, someone who already belonged to this house and to all of our hearts.
With us, he had a real life. He had care, treatment, rest, familiar hands, familiar voices, and a place where he belonged. He was loved without reservation. And that is a truth that does not disappear with death.
Losing him hurts in a way that is hard to explain. It hurts because we wanted more time for him. It hurts because we were there, watching him fight. It hurts because even when you know you did everything possible, life can still leave too soon.
But there is something we must not forget. Frodo mattered. He truly mattered. And when a life matters like that, our responsibility does not end with grief. It continues in what we do next.
Because behind Frodo, others will come. More animals will arrive broken, sick, frightened, and at the very edge. And when they do, they will need to find us there. Ready to receive them. Ready to treat them. Ready to fight for them with the same seriousness with which we fought for Frodo.
So today, in the middle of this farewell, we want to say something very clearly: this is also a moment to join us.
If you have ever felt that what we do here matters, take that step today.
Become part of Let’s Adopt. Stand behind this mission with us. Make it possible for us to keep being there for those who do not yet have a name, for those who have not arrived yet, and for those whose lives will one day depend on a place like this existing.
Frodo is now at rest.
We are the ones who must keep going.
For him.
And for all those who come after him.
Fly high, Frodo.
We will not forget you.
