Over the last few weeks I have received messages from everywhere asking for help. Abandoned dogs, injured cats, desperate situations. And each time I had to say the words I hate the most: “I can’t. My hands are tied.” Today I want to tell you why.
Let’s Adopt has always rescued the animals nobody else will take, the ones at the very edge of survival. But saving these extreme cases comes with a huge cost. Right now we owe more than 50,000 euros, about 58,000 dollars, in veterinary bills. Until that debt is paid, we cannot take in a single new rescue. That is why I had to freeze everything.
There is good news. In just two weeks, thanks to your generosity, we have raised 25,000 euros. That is half of what we need. And this money did not come from big corporations or wealthy foundations. It came from you. From our community. We do not have big donors. We only have you.
But we are not safe yet. Animals still need us. Every day I receive new cases and every day it hurts to say “not yet.” Until we close the remaining gap, rescues must stay frozen. Taking in more animals right now would be irresponsible and could collapse the entire organization.
I never get tired of asking for help because every time you respond, a life changes. We are halfway there. We are close. But we cannot continue without your support.
