Rufus was rescued in Seville, unable to bear weight properly on his left front leg. X-rays revealed pellets in his body. The team treated his wounds and assessed the damage to his elbow. The surgeon described a chronic injury, with a probably traumatic dislocation and fibrosis. An elbow arthrodesis was performed using a plate and screws. The latest documented update, dated 9 September 2026, places him back at Casa Grande, recovering with restricted activity. A complete recovery has not been reported.
