This week has been a rollercoaster of emotions for everyone involved in Chico’s rescue and care. Since being saved from the streets, Chico has been in intensive care at our hospital, where we quickly realized the severity of his condition. It was clear that he urgently needed a blood transfusion to save his life.
Thankfully, the initial transfusion showed promising results, but we knew it was just the beginning of a long journey toward recovery. Yesterday, Chico had to undergo a second blood transfusion. It was only after this procedure that he finally began to show signs of feeling better.
For the first time since his rescue, we were able to give Chico the bath he so desperately needed. Judging by his reaction, we’re pretty certain this was the first bath he has ever had in his life. The change in his demeanor was like night and day. It’s as if he understood that he was finally safe, clean, and cared for.
We are so grateful to our team of veterinarians, volunteers, and especially to you, our supporters, for making life-changing interventions like this possible. We’re not at the finish line yet; Chico still has a long way to go. But with your continued support, we’re hopeful that he will one day find the forever home he deserves.
