Two days ago, a small but dedicated organization reached out to us with a plea for help. Their request was about Marco, a stunning pitbull puppy with bright eyes full of life. But there was a shadow over his playful spirit: he simply couldn’t breathe. Upon further medical examination, the diagnosis was heartbreaking: a paralyzed larynx.
This condition is nearly a death sentence for animals. His only option was a highly specialized and intricate surgical procedure known as the “lateralization of the arytenoid cartilage”. The complexity of this surgery means that only a very small number of surgeons possess the skill and expertise to perform it safely and successfully. And, even in the best of hands, the surgery is not without its risks.
Yesterday was Marco’s day of reckoning. As he was prepared for surgery, his nervous energy was palpable. The weight of what was at stake hung heavily in the air, but we were determined to be by his side, supporting him at every juncture.

Oh VIKTOR!!! What a transformation! Once again, I see the love and value you place on each life, and I truly doubt any other rescue goes to the lengths you do to save them and give them every possible chance for their best and longest life. In years past, I’ve found myself in the position of having to choose between a medical procedure that’s beyond my means and the life of s much loved pet. I will choose massive debt, if possible, to save a pet’s life. It’s because of your commitment I continue to support you through Patreon, and when I can, give extra for individual animals, despite the fact my limited, fixed income doesn’t cover my monthly expenses.
