Many of our rescues are affected by leishmaniasis, a condition that is endemic in our country. It is also very misunderstood, among the general population and veterinarians alike, in countries where it is hardly found, such as North America and northern Europe. This is why our dogs with leishmaniasis do not directly look for homes in the U.S. or U.K. The only vets in the U.K. who are familiar with the condition tend to be Spanish!
