Tina spent almost a year outside.
Running. Hiding. Surviving.
Rosa was with her.
Two little dogs, alone in the world, holding on to each other because there was no one else.
When we finally had the chance to rescue Tina, we knew we could not leave Rosa behind.
So we took them both.
But Tina was the emergency.
Her skin was destroyed. Her face, ears, legs and body were covered in wounds, crusts and raw, painful skin. She is young, but her body looked exhausted by months of disease and neglect.
At the hospital, the tests confirmed what we feared.
Tina has severe leishmaniasis.
She is anemic. Her lymph nodes are enlarged. Her body has been fighting for a very long time.
She is now hospitalized.
The first 72 hours are critical.
