It’s impossible to describe the solitude and abandonment that Maya has suffered for years, living among the rubble and trash of a junk yard.
Exposed to the cruelty of extreme weather, burning under the sun or freezing in the rain, with her skin and eyes destroyed and covered with wounds from glass, nails and thousands of insect bites.
After begging him numerous times, and always threatening to kill her, the owner finally allowed a couple of women from the village to feed her and give her water, and they made a small cabin structure to protect her from the torrential rain.
Maya’s life has been hell on earth. But that ended yesterday when, after a rescue that lasted more than 12 hours, MAYA reached our hospital.
MAYA is hospitalised in intensive care, where she is being taken care of. Her blood tests are evidence of the terrible abuse she has suffered. Her blood is poisoned by parasites. She has it all… leishmaniasis, ehrlichia, anaplasma… her skin is terrible. She has been used as a breeding machine for years.
P.S. When she has recovered, MAYA will need a wonderful home, where she is loved and can live the life she deserves.
